Giovanni "Giovanni" Bugatti was an Italian-born French automotive designer and engineer who was born on September 26, 1906, in Milan, Italy. He was the son of the legendary automobile designer and founder of Bugatti Automobiles, Ettore Bugatti.

Giovanni Bugatti worked with his father at the family-owned Bugatti company where he eventually became the head of the company’s design department. He designed several iconic cars including the Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic, which is considered one of the most beautiful cars ever made. He was also responsible for the design of the Bugatti Royale, which was the most expensive car in the world when it was introduced in 1926.

During his career, Giovanni worked with several other automakers including ENASA in Spain, where he designed the Pegaso Z-102 sports car, the Type 372 and Type 303 trains for SNCF, and the turbojet engine for the Hispano-Suiza aircraft.

Giovanni Bugatti passed away on August 21, 1939, at the age of 33 in a car accident while test-driving a Bugatti Type 57C Tank. His death was a major blow to the Bugatti family and the automotive industry, as he was considered one of the most talented designers and engineers of his generation.
